This is the onboarding website for the Philadelphia region chapter of the International Thomas Merton Society!

Here's How We'll Meet:

Each month, we will meet over Zoom, with plans to do an in-person event each Fall and Spring.

When?

First Tuesday of each month.

How Much?

Zoom Calls will stay FREE.  In-person events will request a donation when they occur.

What is the Plan?

We will be reading through New Seeds of Contemplation chapter by chapter.

• Aug. 5th - Ch. 1 What is Contemplation? 
• Sept. 2nd - Ch. 2 What Contemplation is Not 
• Oct. 7th - Ch. 3 Seeds of Contemplation
• Nov. 4th - Ch. 4 Everything that Is, Is Holy
• Dec. 2nd - Ch. 5 Things in Their Identity

Who is Heading This Chapter?

My name is John Chaffee (MDiv/ThM), and I have over 20 years of experience working in the church.  In 2019, I visited Our Lady of Gethsemani Abbey, and I have been a long-time fan of Merton.
